Lars Carlstrom

Beginning his career in the 1990s, Carlstrom managed real-estate investments exceeding €1 billion across Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Serbia and Croatia.

In 1999, he founded V2H (Video to Home), a video-on-demand service developed in collaboration with Warner Bros., Hearst and Nordisk Film, anticipating the evolution of digital entertainment and on-demand media.

During the 2000s, Carlstrom became involved in the transformation of the European automotive industry, including initiatives connected with Saab Automobile and industrial projects involving FCA, General Motors and Volvo.

He subsequently founded Britishvolt in the United Kingdom and Italvolt in Italy, pursuing ambitious plans to establish large-scale battery manufacturing capacity in Europe. He later founded Statevolt in the United States, extending his work into battery manufacturing and energy storage.

Today, his focus includes Statevolt and Statetron New Energy Holdings AB (publ), with projects spanning battery technology, grid-scale battery energy storage systems and industrial development. Through Statetron, this work extends into the Middle East, with Qatar a central focus for plans involving energy storage, advanced manufacturing and regional industrial development.

In 2025, Carlstrom acquired Westline through Dynaroc Group AB, taking on the challenge of revitalising a Scandinavian yacht brand and returning it to the market with renewed ambition.

He is also involved in the next chapter of Thrupp & Maberly, the historic British coachbuilder, through a partnership with Brendan O'Toole.

Across these ventures, Carlstrom's broader ambition is to connect industrial innovation with energy infrastructure and economic development, helping build the capabilities required for a more electrified and energy-resilient global economy.

His professional journey reflects a sustained interest in identifying emerging opportunities, developing industrial platforms and advancing technologies with the potential to reshape established industries.

The approach

Building Beyond the Conventional

Lars Carlstrom's entrepreneurial career has crossed several industries, from real estate and digital media to automotive manufacturing, battery technology and energy infrastructure.

These sectors may appear different, but each involves recognising change before it becomes established, identifying the opportunity within that change and developing a business concept capable of addressing it.

His approach has included pursuing ambitious industrial projects, exploring international partnerships and connecting technological development with broader economic and infrastructure needs.

Large-scale industrial initiatives require more than a compelling concept. They depend on financing, technology, supply chains, regulatory frameworks and the ability to execute across multiple jurisdictions. Understanding how these elements interact is central to developing complex ventures.

The markets

Developing Industrial Opportunities Across Markets

Industrial development increasingly depends on international cooperation. Technology, capital, manufacturing expertise and market demand often originate in different countries, requiring businesses to build relationships across borders.

Lars Carlstrom's work has involved pursuing opportunities across Europe, the United States and the Middle East. Each region presents its own industrial strengths, commercial conditions and development priorities.

His international focus reflects the importance of connecting those differences: matching industrial ambitions with suitable markets, identifying potential technology and investment partners, and developing projects that respond to regional economic objectives.

For large-scale energy and manufacturing initiatives, strategic partnerships are not simply an additional advantage. They can be fundamental to assembling the capabilities required to move a project forward.

The vision

A Vision for the Next Industrial Era

Industrial transformation is not driven by technology alone. It requires the ability to bring together manufacturing, infrastructure, investment and strategic partnerships at a scale that can create lasting economic impact.

Throughout his career, Lars Carlstrom has pursued opportunities at the intersection of industrial development and technological change. From early digital media innovation and automotive transformation to battery manufacturing and energy storage, his work has reflected an interest in identifying emerging shifts and translating them into ambitious industrial initiatives.

Today, the global energy transition presents a new set of challenges and opportunities. The growth of artificial intelligence, electrification and energy-intensive industries is increasing the importance of reliable power, scalable energy storage and modern industrial capabilities.

Carlstrom's vision is to help develop the industrial platforms and energy infrastructure needed to respond to these changes, connecting international markets, advanced technologies and regional development ambitions.

Looking Ahead

My career has taken me across different industries, technologies and markets, but a common thread has been the opportunity to build something that did not previously exist.

Industrial transformation requires ambition, persistence and the willingness to take on complex challenges. It also requires partners who share a long-term perspective and understand that meaningful progress depends on turning ideas into practical capabilities.

As the world moves towards new energy systems and increasingly technology-driven industries, I believe there are significant opportunities to develop businesses that connect innovation, infrastructure and industrial development.

My focus remains on identifying those opportunities and working with the people and organisations capable of bringing them to life.
